List: Memorial events happening in central Texas on 20th anniversary of 9/11

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of 9/11, a day that transformed The united states endlessly. Quite a few events took put in Central Texas to honor and remember the practically 3,000 folks who shed their life.

Austin Firefighters Affiliation memorial service

The Austin Firefighters Affiliation hosted their annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony. The honor guard was in attendance. The celebration also remembered Austin firefighters, energetic and retired, who died in the final yr.

Hill Nation Galleria 9/11 memorial stair climb

The Bee Cave and Lakeway Police Departments together with Lake Travis Hearth Rescue climbed 110 tales in the parking garage around Dillard’s to pay out tribute to the fallen FDNY firefighters and other initial responders who dropped their life on 9/11. The general public was welcome to go to to help fireplace and police teams.

American Legion Hunter-Morris Article 911 remembrance ceremony

Cedar Park Mayor Corbin Van Arsdale delivered welcome remarks together with representatives from the Cedar Park Police and Fireplace Departments and members of the Armed Forces. Cedar Park Hearth Main James Mallinger gave the keynote remarks.

Rotary Club flag tribute

Hundreds of flags had been put in the large amount across from the Balcones Nation Club. The Rotarians from the club had been current along with Austin firefighters. Boy Scout Troop 513 posted the colors.

Circuit of the Americas memorial tower climb (bought out)

Circuit of The Americas, in conjunction with nearby non-financial gain Samaritan Centre, hosted a Memorial Tower Climb. Members climbed the stairs to the observation deck and again down four periods to mimic the selection of flooring (110) in each Twin Towers of the Earth Trade Heart.

The celebration was arranged by Gonzalo Herrera, a graduate of Texas Condition College and a United States Marine Corps Veteran who done a beat tour in Afghanistan.

The celebration was sold out but donations could nonetheless be produced to the Samaritan Centre, a nonprofit corporation that offers mental health solutions for veterans, to start with responders, navy customers and their family members.

Bagpipes and drums at Texas Capitol
